Obiturary of Carl Donald Larsson

Carl Donald "Don" Larsson, 88, of Hendersonville, North Carolina, formerly of Paris, Illinois, passed away at 12:50 p.m. EST Wednesday, December 2, 2015, at Life Care Center in Hendersonville. He was retired after over thirty-five years as a Certified Public Accountant.

He was born June 20, 1927, in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of the late Carl and Cecelia (Brink) Larsson. He married Estaline D. Ulmer on August 21, 1949, in Newton, Illinois. She preceded him in death April 22, 1996. He later married Ruth Wilkins on July 4, 1998 in Flat Rock, North Carolina, and she survives.

Other survivors include his children, Lisa (James) Ashley of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, Kent Larsson of Sullivan's Island, South Carolina, Carla (Douglas) Schetter of Redondo Beach, California; a step-daughter, Kristi (Andy) York of Portland, Oregon; a brother, Bob (Nancy) Larsson of St. Ignatius, Montana; a sister, Pat (Hank) Graves of Robinson, Illinois; a sister-in-law, Marilu (Albert) Fehrenbacher of Robinson; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, Art Larsson.

Mr. Larsson graduated from high school in Hutsonville, Illinois, and graduated from the University of Illinois as a Bronze Tablet Scholar. He served in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1946, earning the rank of sergeant. He earned his Certified Public Accountant certificate in 1952 and began his accounting career in St. Louis, Missouri, later being admitted to partnership with Houston & Associates of Paris and Mt. Carmel, Illinois. In 1970, he became Senior Partner of Larsson, Woodyard, & Henson, retiring in 1991, while continuing in the capacity of consultant for a number of years. After retirement, he relocated to North Carolina in 1993 where he continued as an avid tennis player in his retirement years. His community service in the Paris area included the Paris Community Council, YMCA, United Way, Chamber of Commerce, and International Thanksgiving Fellowship. In North Carolina, he served as an elementary school and crisis center volunteer, tutor, and was involved in the youth and county tennis associations. Don was a founding member of Lake Ridge Christian Church of Paris. His faith, formed early in life, led to serving as an Elder in three congregations in Illinois and one in North Carolina.

The family extends special gratitude to Dr. James Caserio and to the staff of the Life Care Center of Hendersonville.

SERVICE INFORMATION
Private graveside services were conducted at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, December 10, 2015, at Hutsonville Cemetery in Hutsonville, Illinois. Bro. Karl Marshall officiated and burial followed. Public visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 9, 2015, at Templeton Funeral Home in Paris.
