Obituary of John Denver Recob

John D. Recob, 81, of 1847 Quincy Road, died Sunday, February 28, 1993 at 1:36 a.m. in Community Hospital following a brief illness. He was born in the Pennsylvania House in Springfield, Ohio on December 9, 1911, the son of John L. and Ruth (Doster) Recob. He retired from Wright Patterson Air Force Base in 1962. He was presented the Meritorious Civilian Service Award for his pioneering work in the field of computers and taught computer technology for Ohio State University at the Air Force Institute of Technology. John was past president of the Toastmasters, was a member of the Advisory Council of Clark State College during its inception, and was a past member of the Advisory Council for Technical Education to the State of Ohio. Survivors include his wife, Eileen (Miley) Recob; two daughters and a son-in-law, Marcia and William Walsh of Springfield and Judy Kane of Columbus; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Dennis and Kenneth of Dayton, and Larry and Terri Recob of Columbus; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Edith (Roser) in 1972. Friends may call in the Conroy Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with Rev. Deane Hardy officiating. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
