William D. Hesher Dies at Hospital

William D. Hesher, 78, who resided three-fourths of a mile north of Fiat, died at 7:15 this morning at the Blackford County Hospital at Hartford City where he had been a patient ten days. Death was attributed to a cerebral hemmorrhage.

A son of Frederick and Susan Grime Hesher, he was born at LaFayette County, O., Oct. 12, 1877. His marriage to Pearl Francis, who survives, took place May 20, 1906 at Petroleum.

A veteran of the Spanish American War, Mr. Hesher served with Co. E., 160th Regiment.

Surviving, in addition to the widow, are six daughter, Mrs. Irvin (Opal) Grice, Bluffton, Mrs. Henry (Berta) Murphy, Montpelier Route 1, Mrs. Robert (Helen) Love, Grayling, Mich., Mrs. Francis (Deloris) Seagraves, Portland, Mrs. Howard (Eva) Bouse, Pennville, and Mrs. Carl (Mable) Paxson, Bryant Route 2; a son, Robert Hesher of Portland; 23 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A son Harold, two sisters, Inez Hesher and Mrs. Tilden Ulmer and four brothers, Bert, David, Harry and Ernest, are deceased.

The body was taken to the Thoma Funeral Home and will be taken to the residence near Fiat where friends may call after noon Friday.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Phenix Church with Rev. Allan Stone and Rev. Dewey Zent officiating.

Burial will be at the Alberson Cemetery.

HESHER, MRS. PEARL FRANCES, 86 of Bryant, Rt. 2 died today at Cooper Rest Home. Born May 30, 1886 in Wells County, she was a daughter of John and Amanda Havens Blocher. Her marriage was to William Hesher, who died March 1, 1956. A life resident of Wells County, she was a member of Gilead Church at Balbed. Surviving are six daughters, Mrs. Martin (Opal Grice) Ball of Hartford City, Mrs. Henry (Verta) Murphy of Montpelier, Mrs. Robert (Helen) Lovell of Grayling, Mich., Mrs. Deloris Seagraves of Rochester, Mrs. Don (Eva) Barnett of Greentown and Mrs. Carl (Mabel) Paxson of Bryant, Rt. 2; a son Robert of Rt. 2 Bryant, a brother, Fred Blocher of Rt. 2 of Bryant, 27 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren. Rites will be Wednesday at the Thoma Funeral Home with Rev. Dewey Zent officiating, burial in the Alberson Cemetery.

DEATH CLAIMS HAROLD HESHER

YOUNG MAN PASSES AWAY SUNDAY NIGHT AT HOME NEAR PETROLEUM

Death came at 9 o'clock last evening to Harold C. Hesher, 20, at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William G. Hesher, three miles east of Petroleum. He had been ill six months, a month of which was spent in the Irene Byron tuberculosis sanitarium at Fort Wayne. He came home from the sanitarium two weeks ago.

Harold C. Hesher was born January 25, 1909, in Jay County, the son of William G. and Frances Blocker Hesher. Practically his entire life was spent in Wells county. Surviving are the parents and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Milton Duff, Bluffton; Verta, Helen, Deloris, Eva, Robert and Irene Hesher, at home.

The deceased was a member of the Phoenix U.B. church.

The funeral will be held at the Phoenix church Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock. Burial will be in the Alberson cemetery.
