Martha Snedden McPherson, 82, of Athens, died Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, at Kimes Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Athens.

Born Aug. 3, 1929, in Athens, she was the daughter of the late Annis and Margaret Chesser Snedden. She was a member of the Athens Church of the Nazarene and attended The Plains United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her son, Larry (Brenda) McPherson; three grandsons, Nick, Brad and Mitch; five great-grandchildren, Michael, Cheyanne, Christopher, Rylan and Tristan; a brother, Kyril Snedden; and a sister-in-law, Alberta Snedden.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; her brothers, Owen, John and Bobby Snedden; and her sisters, Mary Ellen Rowland and Margaret Snedden.

Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dwight Umbel officiating. Burial will be in Alexander Cemetery.
